Established in 2010 Hall Green Sports Club is a local football club based in Hall Green, Birmingham and holds sessions at Moseley Fitness Centre. Hall Green Sports Club is run on a voluntary basis by volunteers including senior members of Hall Green Sports Club.

Our Aim is to create an environment where young people can express themselves and enjoy their football development and education in order to maximize their potential.

Who we are?

Established in 2010 Hall Green Sports Club was created by a group of friends who loved football and wanted to bring people together in the local community to play competitive football. From these humble beginnings we have grown to provide opportunities for young people to participate in organised sporting activities as well as to promote and encourage participation in sport for the local community. We now have members between the ages of 5 to over 35 and have several football teams who play in youth, open age & veterans football leagues.

Hall Green Sports Club is run by volunteers who offer innovative and exciting football programmes and uses sport as a tool to keep people motivated as well as inspire individuals and local communities to improve health and a feeling of wellbeing.

Alongside football we are strong believers in helping our community as we feel that helping others is a key part of understanding how other people live and identifying ways in which we can help improve those lives helps our members develop character & life skills. We have been consistently organising fundraising events through football since our inception and to date have raised over £400,000 to support numerous good causes.

Our Team

Open age & Vets teams

Our open age team has been playing Saturday and Sunday league football for over 12 years. Our open age team currently plays on Saturdays in the Birmingham & District Football league (commonly known as Birmingham AFA). The Birmingham & District Football league was founded in 1908 and is one of the oldest institutions in the UK providing open-aged football. This league has become the traditional home of the most competitive amateur grassroots football in the Birmingham area.

A large number of our players have been with the club since inception. They have grown & matured over the last 13 years and decided to set up a dedicated veteran’s team once the core of the squad was eligible. They currently play on Sundays in The Central Warwickshire Over 35’s Football League.

it’s not just football we coach children in

Our job is to help children get better at football.

However our primary focus is to use football to create more confident, happy and healthy children who grow up to be good humans with strong character.

So, what are our children learning above and beyond football?

We want children to learn to work with others and to be good teammates, gracious in defeat and humble in success.
We want children to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don’t get the result or title they’d hoped for, but still they go back week after week giving it their best effort.
We want children to learn to be disciplined, focused and dedicated.
We want children to learn to take care of their body and equipment.
We want children to learn to make and accomplish goals.
We want children to respect, not only themselves, but other players, officials and coaches.
We want children to learn that it takes hours and hours, years and years of hard work and practice to create a champion and that success does not happen overnight.
We want children to be proud of small achievements, and to work towards long term goals.
We want all children to have the opportunity to make life-long friendships, create memories, to be as proud of their achievements.
We want moments when children become so tired they want to quit but don’t.
We want those days when children come home from school and are “too tired” to go to their training but they go anyway.
We want children to be out on the pitch instead of in front of an Xbox screen.

We could go on but, to be short, there’s a different lesson our children take home from every loss or win and each one is a reminder of why they love doing what they do. We don’t focus only on sports; we focus on the opportunities that sport provides children and the opportunity to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From our perspective we believe that this is a great investment!

Community Activities

Hall Green Sports Club strongly believe in the importance of empowering people through sports but equally as importantly community work. We strongly feel that helping others is a key part to our understanding how other people live and knowing ways in which we can help improve those lives. It’s never too early to start encouraging people to practice giving back to those who are in need. Fostering generosity, and teaching people epically kids about the importance of charity at a young age can empower them to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Engaging in charitable acts can also have a positive influence on children and help them develop many valuable life skills.

Since inception we have always ensured that we emphasised on the importance of coming together to support numerous good causes and give back to the local and international communities. We have to date raised over £400,000 and have supported humanitarian causes across the world.

In the last few years we have organised and ran The Ramadan Cup. This is an annual event where we bring teams together to not only play football but also raise money for numerous good causes. Over the last few years the cup has taken place at Walsall FC & Birmingham City FC. This year’s event was the biggest ever and took place at Solihull Moors Football Club. A total of 8 different teams from across the UK participated in 5 different matches. In total this event helped raise £23,000 for several causes primarily supporting humanitarian relief in Syria & Turkey.
